I tried the Hodgdon reloading online manual and the only 230 gr bullet listed that was close was the Hornady FMJ FP starting at 3.7 gr OAL 1.200'. Got home, sat down, and tried to find data on loads for a 230 gr FMJ RN. In fact you can likely triple charge some powders and not notice it in the gargantuan cases like 44 mag, 45 long colt, etc. From the praise that Clays receives here I purchased a bottle. I went with a 1.120' OAL which is a bit longer than Hornadys min OAL.

The Hornady 7th Edition Reloading manual for these bullets calls for a C.O.L. All have been more accurate in my 45acp's than any plated, fmj, or lead bullet with lube. I was told to use data for the 124gr Hornady XTP bullet as this is close to theirs in shape and size. I have used bear creek bullets for a long time but have used others such as bullets bullets bullets, and J&L bullets. I know too many people who tried to use a fast powder for a cheaper way to load magnum performance ammo (44 magnum for instance) and got into trouble when they inadvertantly double charged it and didn't notice it. Almost any 200 grain moly bullet has been my most accurate bullet. otherwise people may be barking up the wrong tree and may run into pressure problems. The light bullet slow propellant, heavy bullet fast propellant only really applies to USPSA.
